Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!! Must submit! Now, summarize my novel in 200 words… Also which novel, my first NaNo or my second NaNo?
Which seems more interesting a teen novel about the secret lives of stalkers? Or a novel about a girl who confuses her dreams with reality?

Quick Review: Unreal Development Kit Game...
First thing I noticed about the book is, it’s written by a girl! The book is written by Rachel Cordone.
I don’t have any experience with Unreal, and am even a bit nervous to try it. But this book says its for beginners, so I decided to give it a read.
So far Chapter 1 has been very clear in teaching me how to install UDK. It gives very clear instructions (screenshots included!),...

TIBE (Taipei International Book Exhibition)
After that crowded affair at TGS, books are the thing to make me feel better.
My sister and I met up at Eslite in Taipei City Hall and headed to the TWTC (Taipei World Trade Center?), where TIBE was held.
On the way there, we saw cherry blossoms. The sight of cherry blossoms and the warm weather makes me happy :).
TIBE sign. The exhibition spans 3 halls, the first is General Books, the...

TGS (Taipei not Tokyo, Game Show)
So I went to my first Taipei Game Show today. Since my boss gave us tickets, my team mates and I decided to check it out.
The first sign I saw, is that they have this game companies recruitment thing in one of the halls. Since I arrived earlier than my team mates, I went to check that part out. It was crowded with gamers who dreams of making their own games, so I couldn’t really get...

Chinese New Year Break Part 2
Sun Moon Lake, Nantou
Since we got started on the road pretty early (5:30 am!) we arrived early (around 7:30am), and waited a bit for the parking lot and then the ticketing of the cable cars to start.
We got our tickets and our number (200+!), then we had to wait for the cable cars to start.
Lookie here, my aunt’s chihuahua is a little sheep :) It was cold and the doggies need...

Mini Tutorial: How to create only one set of GUI...
So, there’s the old iPhone resolution (480x320) and then there’s the retina (960x640). Question is, how do you just create one set of GUI that can fit both resolutions? Because you know scaling and adjusting the GUI elements is such a bother.
Code bit:
public float screenWidth = 960; public float screenHeight = 640;
private Matrix4x4 tMatrix;
void Awake () { ...

How to create physics objects in Cocos2D with just...
Answer: PhysicsEditor
The PhysicsEditor is a shape editor for physics engines like Box2D and Chipmunk.
Before when I was making physics objects in Cocos2D, I used VertexHelper (Johannes Fahrenkrug), which is great and all, but there were a lot of things that you had to consider, such as you had to define the vertices yourself (meaning: ‘click “around” each sprite to define it’s...

Quick Review: Unity iOS Essentials
I am currently reading “Unity iOS Essentials”, which I won from ManiacDev’s book giveaway contest.
And so far, I find that this book seems to be all over the place and it inspires to be a Game Design book.
Why made me think so? Well, Chapter 1 is about Planning Ahead for an Unity iOS Game, it starts out pretty clear, it aims to give the readers a little heads up before they...

“Cocos2d for iPhone 1 Game Development Cookbook” is written by Nathan Burba (@nathanburba).
According to the description, it has “over 90 recipes for iOS 2D game development using cocos2d”. and just by looking at it’s Table of Contents, you’d see that this book covers a lot of topics (some advanced techniques that other cocos2d books have not covered). It...

A few months ago, I wrote a blog post on #AltDevBlogADay reviewing a Unity3D book written by Ryan Henson Creighton, Unity 3D Game Development by Example Beginner’s Guide (buy the book, it’s pretty good, so far), but I only gotten around to Chapter 4.
So for this blog post, I will go through some of the other chapters, particularly Chapter 5 and 6, which is about making a game...

In relation to my previous tutorial: Mini Tutorial: How to batch convert image files to PVR (for iPhone app development)?
So you have a Unity project that was previously not planned for iOS (for PC, Mac or web or whatever), and you might not be as conscious of the texture file formats (iOS is probably the only one with so many constraints).
According to Unity’s User Manual:

Assembling an electric fan - challenge accepted
3D Puzzle from Neil (disassembled electric fan). Since my boy genius friend (21 year old master’s graduate) just well graduated and will be moving back to the Philippines, he donated his electric to us. And the only way to transfer it from Taoyuan to Taipei is by disassembling it. I had no idea electric fans can be disassembled.
Do I need to have a degree in engineering to figure this...

Palawan December 24 2011
We went island hopping!
Our first destination is this little hut in the middle of the sea, with a turtle roof. And our activity was snorkeling! (another first for me)
There were a lot of fishies swimming around us, it’s so pretty (unfortunately we don’t have an underwater camera).
The next location is an actual island. It’s called Snake island, because it is a long like...

Included with our Cebu Pacific package is the Underground River tour and the Mangroves Paddle Boat tour.
We took a motorboat to the underground river. It was open sea, and the waves were pretty big.
The underground river is considered a wonder of nature and a natural world heritage site.
Here we go!
The water is brackish, which means it’s part sea water, part fresh water.

Mini Tutorial: How to batch convert image files to...
According to Unity3D’S manual, when developing for iOS
Use iOS native PVRT compression formats. They will not only decrease the size of your textures (resulting in faster load times and smaller memory footprint), but also can dramatically increase your rendering performance! Compressed texture requires only a fraction of memory bandwidth compared to full blown 32bit RGBA textures.
